Acting as Director and reporting to the CFO, I am the head of security and parking services for 3 hospital sites with 2.5 million square feet —Mississauga Hospital, Queensway Health Centre, and Credit Valley Hospital. I direct 5 core operations including parking, security, non-urgent patient transportation, grounds and snow removal, and shuttle services. I manage an organization of 100+ team members, an operating budget of $8M, I generated $18M in revenue through parking services, and transformed the security program from a single-site to a multi-site model with 1200 beds across 3 hospitals, 4 community sites, 13,000 staff and an average of 280,000 emergency visits annually. Under my leadership, my teams ensure they are providing a safe customer and patient experience. I also standardized processes in areas of higher risk, including newborn security, prisoners as patients, and targeted violence.I’m proud to highlight the following accomplishments:► Security & Operations Highlights● Orchestrating a large-scale project re-badging 12,000 people, which was completed on time and on budget► Leadership & Partnerships Highlights● Initiating a strategy to create more cultural and gender diversity within departments in order to better represent community demographics. I served as Ontario Chapter Chair for 15 years for the IAHSS, supporting the healthcare security industry. Under my leadership, what started as an informal group, transformed into an official Ontario chapter. I built the foundation for the chapter, coordinated meetings, educational sessions, and membership recruiting.During my tenure, I recruited 50 new members. We also hosted the week-long 2011 annual conference and exhibit welcoming 250 attendees from across Canada and the US.

As Emergency Management Specialist, my mandate was to contribute to the development of the 1st pandemic plan for the Region of Peel. I also conducted outreach and delivered presentations to various businesses and community groups in Peel to inform them of the new program and planned procedures. I collaborated with all of the major hospitals in Peel including Trillium, Credit Valley, Brampton Civic, and Peel Memorial.In addition to pandemic planning, I helped establish a heat alert system and procedures for communicating extreme heat conditions to the residents of Peel.

Program Consultant, Emergency Management Unit

Following the SARS outbreak, I was recruited on contract to advise on the creation of various Chemical, Biological, Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) equipment programs and services to best address epidemic-level emergencies. I supported programs including the provincial ventilator survey review, Ministry Emergency Operations Centre review, and the development of the Health Radiation Response team.Additionally, I contributed to healthcare services planning for anticipated evacuations of the Kashechewan Aboriginal community during flooding.

During my time at Sick Kids, I coordinated and planned emergency management programs for the 453-bed, 6,300=staff, 3-building, 3-million-square-feet hospital. Serving as Fire Marshall, I ensured operations were compliant with fire code regulations, working closely with the Toronto Fire Department. I also fostered partnerships with the Toronto Police Department, Emergency Medical Services, and the emergency management branch of the Ministry as well as several other Toronto hospitals.A couple of my most notable achievements included:● Developed and launched the 1st formal online emergency colour-code training program. I worked closely with IT and the Emergency Management committee to make this happen.● Coordinated 5 disaster exercises for groups of approximately 20 security personnel, held at Centennial College
