I started as a Head of NOC when the company (a public cloud provider) had no branding, no logo and the first datacentre had no walls. After half a year I was promoted to Head of IT operations. My main achievements and activities were:- Hired all of the IT department’s staff, formed functions of all sub departments and employees' skill sets.- Prepared general requirements and hired employees for a positions of Head of Support Department and head of Project Management Department.- With help from vendors and contractors choose a structured cabling design for the first datacentre.- As an IT architect made high and low levels system and network designs and was choosing services and software for internal and external use.- Interacted with ISPs. Successfully connected the first datacentre to the Internet.- Interacted with RIPE NCC, Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) and Federal Security Service (FSB).- I wore multiple hats on the business side, e.g., met with potential customers as a technical pre sales engineer in order to sell services or worked with the Russian customs service in order to get equipment through.- Made policies and set of rules for IT operations.- Did a lot of startup stuff as an early employee, such as choosing a unique brand name for the business, participated in marketing events, system and hardware administration, CCTV installation, enforced internal information security policies before the company hired a Head of Information Security and so on.

- Network audit and optimisation before it was decided to merge it with Relcom's one: processes, equipment, documentation and etc.- Deployed Vyatta on bare metal servers to solve routing issues and limitations on old "hardware" routers (so many routes but a limited TCAM and CPU power). I had to patch and compile drivers for Intel NICs to run it with non-Intel transceivers.- I was participating in merging of Demos-Internet and Relcom networks (it was a job for 2 NOCs) and resigned after it was successfully finished.
