About Curtis Sinclair
Currently, I am undertaking research as a PhD student at Staffordshire University, where my focus is on social identity and self-determination. I previously attained a first class honours degree in Psychology (BSc) at Westminster University and a masters degree with distinction in Sports & Exercise Psychology (MSc) at Staffordshire University. I have gained experience in teaching (i.e., distance learning post graduate research methods module), marking (i.e., post graduate assignments) and research (i.e., assisting with development of a new psychometric). Previously, I gained a wealth of experience as a mental health professional, working within social care, health care and third sector organisations across a wide range of settings (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, forensic, community outreach & residential). My roles have ranged from front line support staff to managerial roles as well as including direct therapeutic work with clients. Through these experiences I developed key skills in, for instance, engagement, case formulation, risk assessment, service development, service evaluation, and supervising staff, bringing about positive and visible change for clients. Furthermore, my client work has enabled me to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of using therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioural, behavioural, psychodynamic, person-centred and motivational interviewing approaches. As a researcher with The Salvation Army and the Centre for Mental Health, I have gained invaluable experience in conducting meaningful and impactful research that help shape each organisations response to the changing needs of society.
Listed skills include Case Management, Learning Disabilities, Goal Setting, Mental Health, and 19 others.
