Chris is a columnist for Hearst Newspapers in Texas, writing about money, politics and life in Texas. He divides his time between homes in Austin and Houston.He's also author of two New York Times bestsellers: "Tomlinson Hill: The Remarkable Story of Two Families that Share the Tomlinson Name - One White, One Black." The book and a documentary film by the same name explore 160 years of bigotry and racism in Texas. "Forget the Alamo: The Rise and Fall of an American Myth" examines the true story behind the Texas revolt and it's most famous battle.From 2011 to 2014, he was the supervisory correspondent for The Associated Press in Austin, Texas, responsible for government and political reporting in Texas. He was the Chief of Bureau for East Africa from 2004-2007 and worked as an investigative reporter as a contractor for the AP from August 2007 to 2009. Before 2001, Tomlinson worked for the AP in New York, Minneapolis and Rwanda.He was a Fellow in Journalism at the Robert Strauss Center for International Security Studies and Law. He has taught writing at the University of Texas Department of Journalism and the Lyndon B.
