About Cheryl Williams

I am a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of public policy and operations experience in the federal government and nonprofit sector. I have blended my extensive knowledge of politics and the legislative process with years of strategic leadership to effect lasting change in the lives of others. As Vice President of the Women’s Congressional Policy Institute, I helped guide the organization toward a fuller mission to bring women policymakers together across party lines, empower future women leaders, and foster a more representative democracy. I am a problem-solver with significant experience providing operational leadership, encouraging bipartisan cooperation, and creating a collaborative work environment steeped in mutual respect and mentorship.A former legislative assistant to U.S. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, I have built relationships with Members of Congress, federal agency officials, advocates, and other trusted partners while providing counsel on a wide range of issues. I believe in mentoring and creating opportunities for young women: I am responsible for administering several of WCPI’s leadership programs for young women and girls, including the annual Take Our Daughters to Congress Day, the WCPI internship program, and the Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy.A native Washingtonian, I am committed to providing access to underrepresented groups. My specialties include public policy, nonprofit management, board development, program development, strategic planning, operations, and mentoring.
