Thomson Reuters Eagan, MNData Center Technician Responsible for the professional installation and supervision of electrical and mechanical equipment to include but not limited to: low voltage, fire alarm systems, motor control centers, building automation, cooling towers, CRAC units, SetPoint (OrcaWeb) power monitoring and perform preventive maintenance on all infrastructure equipment.• Assisted in the building, from planning to completion, of a Tier 3 data center to include being a liaison between contractors and parent company while on site. This included traveling for factory testing of equipment and reporting back to company Executives. • Gather requested information, recorded and created reports for IT department.• Assemble, install and maintain mechanical, electrical, security and fire protection systems• Assist with the proper installation of computer/networking systems• Coordinate, inspect and verify the work of external contractors and technicians • Performed testing on all new components, equipment and systems installed in the data center• Respond and troubleshoot problems with equipment to determine cause of breakdown/failure and coordinate resolution with appropriate personnel• Interacted with other departments to respond to various service requests• Inspect, monitor, document and report on the condition of all automation and operating systems that make up the data center environment. • Read, comprehend and work with technical information (i.e. blueprints, sketches, building plans and schematics) related to electrical and mechanical systems. • Comply with all safety programs and training to ensure a safe work environment .• Study and develop new and innovative ways to cut costs while maintaining the integrity of the Data center.• Develop procedures for switching building loads to generators for the purpose of maintaining infrastructure and raised floor equipment.
