As Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of West Des Moines, I am the point person for the City in business attraction and business retention efforts. I am also heavy involved with the West Des Moines Business Incubator and the development of an entrepreneurial culture within the community. I am currently working with several area schools and the Des Moines Area Community College District in establishing specialized programs to encourage more students to enroll in STEAM education courses. The City and the West Des Moines Development Connection have recently developed and funded a targeted small business revolving loan program. I serve as staff to the loan review committee that was established to oversee that program.The Department also operates an extensive housing rehab program. The City serves as the program agent for the Metro Home Improvement Program and the Dallas County Housing Trust Fund. In addition the City operates a housing rehab program within the City.

As Planning Director for the City of Palmdale, I oversaw the Current and Long Range Planning functions of the City. Within the Planning Department I also oversaw the Environmental and Code Enforcement Sections for the City.As Director I was also the point person for the City in its economic development recruitment and retention activities.Describe your position

As the Assistant Director of Advanced Planning I was responsible for the overall operations of the Environmental, General Plan, and Special Projects and Housing Section.In addition to the above activities, I was responsible for the City’s economic development efforts to attract and retain businesses.
