I am an attorney in private practice, engaged primarily in helping older Texans and persons with disabilities to qualify for Medicaid and other benefits to pay for long-term care. The focus of my law firm is to help our clients gain access to the best care available to them. In addition to Medicaid, we help with Medicare, VA pension, long-term care insurance and financial planning. I have been doing that since 1993 and in the process have become a CERTIFIED ELDER LAW ATTORNEY and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner. Before that, I represented the State of Texas as an Assistant Attorney General, enforcing the rights of nursing home residents and other consumers from 1983 to 1993. During that time I served as Chief of the Consumer Protection Division and created a new Elder Law Section, which I led as its first Chief.
