The company also fully owns one Tour Operator in France – Soléa Vacances and one in South Africa – World Leisure Holidays.The company went through a major corporate change in November 2006 with the announcement of a split with its strategic management company, One & Only (Kerzner International). This split was effective in April 2007 and I was recruited in May 2007 as Communication & Public Affairs Manager.My main Job purpose to that effect was to assist the Group Marketing Manager in formulating, managing and implementing PR & Communication operational objectives at the level of the group and its properties within the Group Marketing Strategy.I am also involved in Corporate Affairs on a specific mission pertaining to Public Affairs, Corporate Networking, Community Relations, Corporate Social Responsability and Crisis & Issue Communication.

I joined Totem as a full time PR Consultant and Project Manager because I wanted to get back to the Corporate Affairs sphere after full involvement in a more events-based environment.I was attracted by the distinctive work environment of Totem where the newly created PR Department was faced with a series of interesting challenges in terms of development of a pro-active team with a hands-on approach in Corporate Communications.With the help of other members of the team and with my past experience, we managed to set up a very dynamic department with a series of services ranging from Corporate Communications to Issue Management and Brand Communication.At Totem, I was more particularly engaged in activities related to Issue Management, Media Relations and Community Relationship.Furthermore, I was a Senior Consultant effectively involved in high-profile corporate counselling and consultancy for top-executives of various organisations, bodies and companies.My involvement at Totem was mainly within the following scope:• Devising, monitoring and implementing Communication strategies for clients.• Devising, monitoring and implementing PR actions for clients.• Providing high-profile corporate consultancy in crisis management issues, corporate communications and branding projects.• Intervening in high-profile corporate training projects in the field of media training and crisis preparedness.• Setting up and managing a Media Monitoring process within the company for proper use for clients.• Devising and implementing Community relationship projects for clients.

I set up EventPro in order to pursue my involvement within the field of Public Relations and Event management. I wanted to bring a new dimension to Event management by using all possible Communication tools at the service of any type of event.Since June 2004, EventPro proved to be a very resourceful company and got involved in almost all major events and projects in the island, ranging from concerts to product launches or advertising campaigns and media build up for companies.Besides this aspect, EventPro also brought innovation by applying a resource-sharing principle in its direct partnership with two other companies, namely Sign-Xpert graphic studio and advertising agency and Wide Print printing house. This enabled EventPro to get involved in other shared projects, especially within the PR side.I have had the chance to train a small team within EventPro and we built a network of dedicated freelancers that were ready to get involved in all the company’s projects.

I have been involved at Imagine Communication for four years, enabling me to gain major experience within the PR sector. Imagine Communication was, at that time, the main Communication & PR agency in Mauritius and had a very good track record of achievements since its creation.Since the beginning, I was given the responsibility of Project Manager, being in charge of a complete portfolio of clients in various sectors of the economy. Project management in this field of PR business means a very hands-on approach of client-oriented management.My knowledge of a theoretical approach of Corporate Communications enabled me to specialise in activities related to the setting up of internal and external communication plans for clients. This process is a very important one, as prior to any type of action you have to carry out an evaluation of all information systems within the organisation.Furthermore, I specialised myself in Crisis Communication management where I was involved in a series of actions with private companies and public organisations at both internal and external levels. This aspect of my work helped me a lot to master the process of working under great pressure and with very important national and global issues.I also got involved in the conception and management of events for clients as well as conception, editing and follow-up of communication tools such as magazines, flyers, web sites, among others. This aspect of my work enabled me to better understand the process of outsourcing, tendering, procurement and follow-up with various companies.I was also given the responsibility of the training and various other HR issues within the company, having to manage relations within the staff members and freelancers working for us. A special care was also given to all students having to carry out a work placement at our company.

When I returned to Mauritius in 1996, I quickly set out to find a job and among all other possibilities, I was very much interested with a proposal from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Port Louis. Indeed, thanks to my various other professional and social involvements in France, I was happy to engage myself in a very interesting process of reorganising the Communication of the Diocese in Mauritius.I was given a special assignment to reorganise La Vie Catholique weekly and set up a Public Relations Office for the Diocese.Furthermore, I was also involved at a regional level in the training of pastoral communication agents and setting up regional communication networks within the Indian Ocean dioceses.
