On October 21, I gave a three-hour session on John Ford's masterpiece 'Stagecoach' (1939). During class, we dissected narration and mise en scène, providing cinematographic and pictorial references -such as Raoul Walsh's 'The Big Trail' (1930)- that precede the film and we took a brief tour of the mythological roots of the far west.
