I am a Ph.D. candidate and NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the Program in Chemical Biology at the University of Michigan interested in natural product biosynthesis! As a researcher in Dr. David Sherman's lab, I study how we can microbially engineer natural product pathways and biosynthetically derivatize their metabolic products to discover new bioactive drug-like compounds. I previously earned a B.S. in Chemistry with a Biochemistry Concentration from Haverford College, where I worked alongside Dr. Lou Charkoudian to study type II polyketides (approaching how we can discover and understand the evolutionary relatedness of these systems using bioinformatics and how we can evaluate enzyme compatibility in vitro).
