I conducted research in the Tolar Lab on Epidermolysis Bullosa funded by the NIH. I hypothesized that dermal fibroblasts package C7 into exosomes. Exosomal secretion may be detected and measured for quantity of C7 protein, which is observed to be under-expressed in Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB) compared to wild-type. RDEB fibroblasts may endocytose C7-containing WT exosomes and secrete it by the canonical pathway. I also shadowed Dr. Tolar and his colleagues at the Journey Clinic to see first hand patients suffering intractable diseases that were treated with cutting-edge stem cell therapies.- Literature review for experimental design- Purchase necessary equipment- Human Stem Cell Culture- Total Exosome Isolation for Enrichment- BCA Protein Quantification- Exosome Marker FACS Detection- Western Blot Detection- ELISA Quantification Secretion Assay
