Write reviews of current speech, language and hearing research to help bridge the research-to-practice gap

Provided assessment and treatment of speech and language disorders for monolingual and bilingual children, with a focus on the primary grades. Developed and facilitated continuing education and training sessions for teachers, parents and speech-language pathologists across my areas of expertise/interest, which include bilingual issues, literacy and racial equity.Roles on my home campus:- Provide direct speech-language therapy services within self-contained special education classrooms.- Provide direct and indirect/consultative speech-language therapy services for students placed in general education settings.- Complete individualized evaluations of speech and language for bilingual (Spanish-English) and monolingual students.- Complete Autism evaluations in partnership with campus diagnostician, licensed specialist in school psychology and occupational and/or physical therapist.- Collaborate with teachers, administrators and parents in the MTSS process to provide intervention ideas for struggling language learners as well as identify appropriate referrals for special education evaluation.- Provide case management for Speech Impairment coded students, including scheduling and leading ARD/IEP meetings, legal documentation, parent communication and making appropriate referrals for students.- Provide high-quality supervision for undergraduate and graduate level student clinicians.Roles at the Departmental level:- Serve as a member of the Bilingual Team, Literacy League and Racial Equity Team.- Assist in identifying current issues and areas for continued study and professional growth across the topics of bilingual evaluation and service delivery, literacy and racial equity.- Plan and facilitate continuing education sessions for a variety of audiences related to these topics in collaboration with my teammates.

Lead a team of educators from across the state in reviewing Spanish early literacy curriculum resources. Facilitate meetings, provide individualized feedback, and guide team members to reach consensus on TRR curriculum rubric indicators. Provide weekly progress updates to TRR staff.

Provide instruction for undergraduate level Language Development course in the Davies School of Communication Sciences & Disorders.

-Planned programming, co-facilitated, and interpreted for monthly Bilingual Aphasia Support Group meetings-Assisted with data collection and analysis for ongoing research projects in the area of bilingual aphasia

- Served as a literacy tutor for nine separate tutoring groups ranging from Pre-K to 3rd grade- Collaborated with teachers to identify areas of growth for students and share progress- Independently created tutoring plans and monitored student growth with quick assessments, data tracking, and anecdotal notes

-Taught first-graders in a self-contained dual-language classroom, where 90% of instruction is given in Spanish and students are held to high academic standards in both languages-Worked collaboratively with grade-level team, fellow teachers, mentors, and administrators to analyze data, adjust curriculum resources, and plan instruction to drive student achievement-Served as grade level chair in my second year and facilitated instructional planning meetings as well as logistics for grade-level trips and projects

-Selected from approximately 40,000 applicants to join national teacher corps of recent college graduates and professionals who commit two years to teach in under-resourced public schools
