I am currently in a new position outside of academia at Pathlight Group, where I will be an Autism Specialist working in-home with children under 22. My role consists of supporting clients and families, connecting clients with resources, coordinating services (therapy, skills trainers, education advocates, etc.), liaising with other MA state services like DDS, and providing educational training about autism to Pathlight and the community.

As an Access Coordinator a Disability Services, I advocated for and managed a large caseload of undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities. I supported students through stressful situations and guided them to helpful resources. I also maintained the confidentiality of the students while advocating for their legal accommodations at UMass and resolved conflicts and questions regarding rights and accommodations for those with disabilities. In addition, I trained newly hired individuals who will continue this work as my assistantship contract has ended.

As a graduate TA, I lectured classes on topics in biology and ASD, facilitated meaningful discussions about challenging topics, and proctored quizzes and exams for students with and without disabilities. As an autistic person myself, I really enjoyed the opportunity to teach students about myself and my community.

As the Staff Research Assistant of the FACE Lab at Emerson College of Communication Disorders and Sciences, I am the point person for all undergraduate and graduate students as well as participants and their families. Some of my responsibilities include: running reliability on dot-clicking data from the motion capture system as well as first and second passed transcriptions, troubleshooting all technical problems, and serving as liaison for participants and their families. Our laboratory specializes in the differences in the perception and production of social stimuli of adolescents with ASD versus typically developing adolescents. We use motion capture and eye-tracking equipment to collect data on facial expressions and eye contact during studies which involve conversations between teens with and without ASD.

As a Teaching Assistant for Psychology 494RI: Interdisciplinary Directions in Psychology, a lecture for 4th year undergraduate students, I assess and grade assignments of all 200 students, proctors quizzes for students with disabilities in a separate setting, and mentors students with and without disabilities on the transition from college to adulthood.

As an EMT-B, I serve as a first-responder at big University events such as concerts, tailgates, sports games, and more. At these large scale events, we use the MCI (Mass Causality Incident) protocol and triage the high volume of patients accordingly. In addition, I work very closely with the UMass Police Department and Amherst Fire Department in order to ensure that large scale events at UMass are safe and that high quality patient care is maintained.

As the intern for the Parent Training and Information Center of the FCSN, I designed, created, and distributed multiple surveys to obtain data relevant for future grants, spoke on a panel of young adults with disabilities at a FCSN Transition Conference, designed and presented a training for the entire FCSN office, fixed numerous technical problems, and wrote a personal article on my journey to self-advocacy which was published in the FCSN Newsline.

As the Treasurer for the UMass Amherst Chapter of Students for a Free Tibet, I created and proposed budgets, collected and deposited funds, worked closely with the Student Engagement Business Center, and assisted the President of the UMass Chapter in executive decisions.
