● Provide instructional support to students with mild to moderate learning, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional disabilities ● Modify or adapt the general education curriculum for students based upon their skill and ability level so that it is appropriate and accessible ● Use various instructional techniques to promote learning, including individualized instruction and small-group work● Ensure that accommodations are available and implemented during class instruction and during the assessment of students● Assist and collaborate with general educators in developing and implementing interventions for students who are not meeting grade level expectations in academic areas ● Support general educators in adapting curriculum materials and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with disabilities● Implement effective and regular communication with families to share students’ strengths, challenges, goals, and progress● Attend annual reviews and re-evaluation meetings to discuss current student performance with parents, general educators, and members of the Child Study Team● Confer with the Child Study Team in order to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) ● Implement IEPs and monitor students’ progress and performance as they work toward completing their personalized goals ● Maintain accurate and complete student records as well as prepare quarterly progress reports for classified students by utilizing the information management system, GoalView, as is required by laws, district policy, and administrative regulations within required timeframes

● Create, design, and implement teacher-created curriculum utilizing Understanding by Design by Wiggins and McTighe● Align lesson objectives with New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the Common Core State Standards● Develop students’ content-specific knowledge using an array of instructional techniques, educational resources, and cross-curricular lessons within an inclusive classroom● Incorporate differentiated activities to engage all learners and address each student’s learning style and ability ● Collaborate with resource teachers and specialists to modify curriculum and assessments for students with Individualized Education Programs ● Attend Intervention and Referral Services meetings and work closely with the Child Study Team● Apply in-class learning to real-world situations and current events ● Encourage skills and manners that are necessary to ready students as informed and active citizens in the twenty-first century● Reinforce and maintain behavior and classroom management through motivational activities and positive reinforcement
