I worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico aboard the Transocean rig Deepwater Invictus being operated by BHP Billiton. In addition to the duties below I also produce daily reports of drilling activities, maintain proper weekly calibration on all equipment, help to on-the-job train subordinates/co-workers, as well as liaise between land office managers and rig managers.I have worked in offshore Saudi Arabia (In the Red Sea) drilling through the Lissan fm (limestone), the Ghawwas fm (interbedded limestone & sandstone), the Mansiyah fm (shale & sandstone w/ interbedded halite & anhydrite), and the Jabal Kibrit fm (shale & sandstone) on an exploratory Jack-up rig, the ENSCO 76.• Assist in "rig-up" operations to prepare Geoservices’ unit for deployment to the Gulf of Mexico and further assist in the connection and calibration of sensors and gas lines once unit arrived.• Assist in the production of daily reports as well as drilling, gas, lithology, and show logs.• Collect, analyze, and describe rock cuttings samples to look for oil and natural gas “shows” as well as describe other physical and chemical properties.• Facilitate on-the-job training of subordinates and co-workers.• Liaise between land office managers and rig managers, and aid in the production of final deliverables to be given to client upon completion of the well.• Maintain proper daily/weekly/monthly calibration on all equipment.• Monitor many drilling parameters including, but not limited to, Stand Pipe Pressures, pump speed and strokes, active and reserve mud pit levels, trip tank levels, hook height, weight on hook, weight on bit, measured and total vertical depth, lagged depth, as well as gas levels to prevent an influx of fluids to or a loss of fluids from the wellbore.• Prepare cuttings samples for storage and/or shipment to clients/partners with proper labeling such as well name, location, and from-depth information.
