Chris and Haag Global, a forensic engineering and appraisal firm specializing in the built environment, launched Haag Canada on September 28, 2020. The coming together of Chris, a Canadian industry leader in large loss forensic engineering, and America’s oldest forensic engineering firm with the rare attributes of unbiased independence and sharing Chris’s vision, was unprecedented and a strategic development that was to benefit the forensic engineering market. Launching a new venture during the COVID pandemic was challenging. Still, during Chris’s 18-month tenure, he established Haag in the Canadian complex large loss marketplace with three offices and 12 professionals in 5 engineering disciplines, including construction consulting claims and advisory, a new service offering for Haag Global. The unique service offering developed by Haag Canada resonated with clients.

• Created Canada’s largest independent, multi-disciplinary large loss forensic engineering firm. Identified and developed client relationships, recruited top talent, and created an inspired work environment, culture and corporate structure. Grew a profitable firm to almost 100 staff and revenues of $15 - 18M.• Identified lack of an independent resource not in conflict for the assessment of cause of large loss failure for insurer’s and First Parties. Initiated creation of a Global Centre of Excellence in Large Loss Forensic Engineering and Science that fostered efficiency and collaboration of multi disciplined expertise with enhanced quality of reporting.• Built an inhouse HR team with a dedicated talent acquisition lead to support the growth of a niche and undeveloped discipline. Provided training, mentorship, strategic corporate blueprint and career guide with well-defined expectations to engage employees and create an inspired work environment. Transformed subject matter experts into effective forensic consultants.• Developed sophisticated inhouse marketing and PR strategy and resources to support the introduction of new services to the marketplace. Built a strong digital marketplace presence within the insurance, legal, engineering industry associations and academia and cultivated solid relationships with industry leaders.• Advocated for unbiased independent expertise as conflict and bias threatened the credibility and value of industry experts to the courts. Implemented internal processes of peer review to mitigate bias.• Implemented software that integrated CRM, project management, time and billing, accounting and reporting visualization resources.• Developed a real time audio and video technology enabled research and examination studio that provided for remote and cost-efficient participation of global parties in joint examinations.
