I managed $2.4 million in grants for Fresno Superior Court. Most of the grant-funded programs support collaborative courts that create opportunities for youth and adults by connecting them to needed community-based treatment services while working with our local justice partners. A project funded by the Office of Violence against Women supports families affected by domestic violence. We receive funding from federal, state and private sources. While at the court, I have written one federal grant and four applications to state agencies - including a $6 million grant for Prop 47 funds to serve Justice-Involved Transition Age Youth.

I had the immense privilege of being with the family of Rufino while he completed his hospice journey. Rufino was the stone who launched the ripples of the most inspiring advocates and organizers that I know. The founder of Centro Binacional para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueno (CBDIO), Frente Indigena de Organizaciones Binacionales and many more, he served the indigenous Oaxacan community abroad and throughout Mexico with a steadfast commitment to social justice.

As a part of being a Teaching Assistant for EDUC 4980: Intergroup Dialogue Practicum; I coached 4 pairs of undergraduate facilitators of EDUC 2610 and developed curriculum for our weekly classes.The Intergroup Dialogue Project at Cornell University (IDP) prepares students to live and work in a diverse world, and educates them in making choices that advance equity and justice. Students develop the skills and techniques of dialogue by exploring social justice topics such as socio-economic status and class privilege, gender inequality, race and ethnicity, heterosexism, ability, religious biases and more.

The Cornell Public Affairs Society provides social and professional development opportunities for all 200 CIPA Fellows, including a peer mentoring program, language partner programs, a gala, international holiday celebrations and small-scale story swaps of professional experiences. As President, I led a team of 7 full-time students from four countries to collaboratively design and implement these programs. We led the transformation of the mandatory Colloquium series to become a more dynamic, community-building event series through our townhall, deep conversations with peers and collaboration with the CIPA administration.
