About Carolina Migliorelli

I am a Biomedical Engineer and Digital Health Researcher (Ph.D) with a specialization in data analysis methods, including machine learning and processing of biological time series and images. Having graduated from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in 2009 with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, I went on to obtain my MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2011. In 2017, I was awarded a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (cum laude) from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, with a focus on biomedical signal and image processing in the field of neuroscience.My extensive research experience is evidenced by numerous indexed publications and successful participation in various research projects. Over the years, I have secured funding from public programs to support my endeavors. Between 2017 and 2021, during my postdoctoral tenure at the Centro de investigación biomedica en red - CIBER-BBN, I honed my expertise in applying signal processing, data analysis, and machine learning techniques to time series signals within the neuroscience domain.Since February 2021, I have been working as an Advanced Researcher at the Digital Health Unit of Eurecat. By leveraging real-world data from sources such as sensors, images, IoT devices, and medical records, I employ advanced data analysis and artificial intelligence techniques to develop algorithms that not only improve medical decision-making but also empower citizens to promote healthier lifestyles and habits, ultimately benefiting doctors, patients, and the wider population in their pursuit of improved health. In addition to my research expertise, I have taken on the role of project manager, utilizing agile methodologies to effectively lead and organize complex projects.Furthermore, I have been responsible for organizing research teams and positioning the research offerings of the Digital Health Unit to secure public funding, particularly specializing in European programmes. My leadership and strategic efforts have contributed to the successful acquisition of resources for our research projects, further enhancing the impact of our work in the field of digital health.In addition to my research accomplishments, I have extensive teaching experience, having served as a part-time lecturer from 2016 to 2021 at the Automatic Control Department of the UPC. During my tenure at the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB), I taught subjects such as Systems Dynamics, Automatic Control, and Neuroimaging, and supervised over 15 final degree and master's projects.
