ACA is a consortium of 35 private colleges and universities in the Appalachian regions of KY, TN, NC, WV, and VA; the consortia serves faculty, staff, and students of our member institutions. I work with the library aspect of the organization, which includes maintenance of a Shared Catalog system for 28 libraries, negotiation of consortia deals for databases and services, providing professional development opportunities for library staff (overseeing mini-grants for conferences/workshops, planning webinars and in-person meetings), and communicating these opportunities to our member libraries.

Assist in the circulation department by supervising student workers, running reports, maintaining patron and item records, managing course reserves, filling in at the circulation desk when needed, and ensuring that the circulation area runs smoothly and efficiently

Check materials in, register new customers, collect fines on an automated system (TLC).Instruct Library customers in the use of the Library, provide information about library services to patrons in person and on the telephone, and assist patrons in locating requested items and/or information, including searches on the Public Access Catalog (PAC).Explain use of Library’s equipment to customers.Suggest books and authors to patrons upon request and reserve books and other library materials for patrons through the catalog or interlibrary loan; verify correct placement of materials on shelves.

Retrieve materials upon patron request, shelve materials, assist patrons looking for information in Special Collections.

Shelved reference materials, answered patron's questions by phone or in person, assisted patrons using the library's computers

Helped organize information about people and events related to Asbury College, assisted patrons when needed, shelved archive materials.

Shelved reference materials and maintained order and cleanliness of the reference area.

Tutored 3-4 students weekly in order to improve understanding of grammar and writing style. Also met with walk-ins (one-time appointments) to help revise papers. Collaborated with fellow tutors to create worksheets and organize tutoring materials.
