The departments that I directly oversaw as the Assistant General Manager for GoodLife Fitness are, the front desk staff (Motivators), as well as the child minding staff (JUMP). For these departments I am responsible for the scheduling, hiring and training of all associates. It is my responsibility to coach, develop and inspire these teams to provide excellent member experiences. Through daily meetings, continuous training of paperwork, policies, procedures and roleplaying of best practises; I strive to help build the knowledge and confidence of our staff. Other responsibilities I am accountable for include, ordering all food and beverage supplies, a personal contribution of membership sales and overseeing the sales team in the absence of the General Manager.

As the Associate Manager of Garage I worked in conjunction with the Store Manager to build and develop our team. It was my responsibility to oversee all KPIs and create action plans for improvement. While working for Garage I grew in my ability to multi-task, due to it being a fast paced environment. Through coaching logs, analyzing sales and other measurable, we teach our staff to maximize in productivity. Inventory, visual changes and overall brand standards, sales, customer satisfaction and employee growth are all areas of the business that as a team we focused on. I also took on the role of the Loss Prevention Manager, which included monthly audits, refreshing employees of company policies and standards and conducting sore inventory counts.

My primary focus as a manager is always the coaching and developing of our staff. By conducting weekly reviews based on performance and statistics, we have focused on holding our staff accountable to the highest standards. This shift in focus has created a sense of responsibility in our team, resulting in better store performance and profitability overall. Other responsibilities included in my positions include, but are not limited to, analyzing sales, monitoring hour consumption, conducting interviews and hiring new staff, scheduling, the daily opening and closing procedures, general house keeping of the store, transferring merchandise for online orders and ordering weekly supplies.

I was hired as a part time associate, was promoted to Associate Manager in 2010 and again to Assistant Manager in 2012. My responsibilities included customer service, coaching and mentoring associates and pre-planning and executing visual changes with my store manager. From an administrative position I was also responsible for ordering our weekly and monthly supplies, as well as receiving, unpacking and organizing stock in a clean and timely manner. Over the last four years I had also been the “party leader,” for the store. I confirmed the party details with the customers and prepared the team members for all events held in our store. Lastly, in partnership with the entire management team I had been a part of building our business through networking and creating partnerships with other organizations.
