When I discovered my creative passions could intersect with my strengths in math and science, my entire perspective on my career changed and I found my true calling. I always imagined myself becoming an editor or working in post-production in some capacity, but now I know my purpose lies within the group of engineers who make the tools that allow creatives to bring their visions to life. My background as a creative, combined with my aptitudes for math and science, allows me to be the bridge between these two worlds.I chose the path of color science while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the Motion Picture Science program. I remember being fascinated at the prospect that the world as we see it is simply a result of how our brain processes the information it receives from our eyes. If one knows how the human visual system works, I can manipulate that information to evoke a certain visual sensation. When I realized that this topic was the "magic" behind the editing tools that were my favorite hobby, I was hooked and took as many classes as I could to learn more.As a color scientist, I spend my day researching human color perception as it relates to modern display technology. My primary job focus relates to display calibration and color control, where I learn about how displays reproduce color and then work to understand how to control that color to evoke a desired color appearance. My goal is to develop tools that give creatives the peace of mind they need to ensure that their vision will be presented as intended across all forms of distribution.I'm a passionate individual who immerses myself in a topic of interest and sets a high standard for my own competency in that subject. I'm competitive and find joy in achieving high success and ultimately trying to be the best at what I do. I recognize that perfection every time is not realistic, but I also believe that setting high expectations is what allows myself to achieve my best possible performance. I'm also a team player who seeks out others' experiences and opinions in order to find solutions to a problem. I believe that a group of powerful minds working together is more successful than one individual leading a team of followers or working by themselves.
