I love making things. As a child, I found joy building castles and waterways in the sand. Today I find the same joy summoning processes into existence with my code.Throughout my career, I have enjoyed applying new ideas and technologies to solve pain points. In some cases that has involved the adoption of new tools or libraries, such as the successful introduction and use of React for a dashboard project. In other cases it's been the use of more fundamental ideas, such as recognizing an identity resolution problem as an instance of the connected-component problem and solving it with the union-find data structure. There are few things I enjoy more than having an insight that changes a problem from impossible to easy.I've taken my curiosity about functional programming languages from a personal interest, to a successful small project at work, to what I professionally use on a daily basis. I have come to appreciate the power of advanced type systems by diving into the deep end of the Scala ecosystem. I've also developed respect for the beauty and simplicity of dynamic data and languages that embrace it like Clojure.My greatest strength is applied curiosity. I am drawn to look deeply at problems. The joy of discovery has led me to regularly see new possibilities in how my team solves problems.
