Took full time charge of the Hotel Business as the Executive partner of the Firm.Upgraded the Hotel to a three star modern hotel with 48 rooms and about 60 employees within three years in the process gaining valuable experience in hotel management.Managed and supervised all complex hotel operations like Marketing, Finance, Administration, Personnel, House Keeping, Maintenance, Taxation and Legal affairs.During this period was elected to the Executive Committees of Prestigious bodies like the "Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry" and the "Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association".

The Company (a Birla Concern) was a well-known textile manufacturing and marketing company of its time. In addition to cotton textiles one of its most popular products was synthetic blended suiting and shirting branded as Jiyajee Suiting and Shirting. Having obtained an MBA, which was a new concept for India at that time and it being the first job of my career, was put on management training to orient myself with various functions of management like Marketing, Production, Finance and Personnel.Thereafter was put in charge of Advertising and Sales Promotion activity with specific responsibility of designing and implementing advertising campaigns, coordinating with various advertising agencies for its execution and obtaining market feed back. After working for two years in Advertising and Sales Promotion, was given the specific responsibility of opening company "Authorised Retail Showrooms" in various parts of India. Within a period of one year was successful in opening about 230 such outlets for the Company. During this period the sales of the Company increased by 70%. Having received success in the above assignments was given the additional responsibility of expanding the existing distribution network to the parts of the country where it was non- existent at that time.
