I have been working a project which needed a traffic mediator between client applications and some physical devices, at TCP level. The biggest challenge was that we were not allowed to tweak the communication protocol or architecture of the physical devices. In order to overcome this, we had to implement several components:- A component which could intercept traffic at TCP level and redirect it somewhere else, programmatically.- A component which mediates the traffic and understands the protocol, thus re-prioritizing and distributing it serially to devices and caching data for improved performance.- A component which would sit on the unit linked to the device and which also mediates incoming traffic to the device and handles the incoming traffic.Key technologies and aspects:- The implementation was based on Dotnet 6.- TCP level communication using C# system libraries.- Designing resilient and long-running worker services which could handle clients and devices in parallel, without blocking.- Unit-testing using xUnit Moq and Fluent assertion.- Designing a physical device mocker which enabled us to perform integration testing for vertical slices of business logic- Create Windows installers using WixThe continuation of this project is ongoing and follows a cloud-based approach. I am working on an application suite based on Angular and Dotnet 6, which will become the new client applications for the previous system. This suite of applications is automatically deployed to an Azure Kubernetes Services by an automated pipeline, Leveraging Docker images and Helm Charts.

I have worked on maintaining and improving a PHP backend application for a backup software. The key areas of development have been:- Migrating legacy code to an up-to-date framework, i.e. Symfony- Implementing REST API for both 3rd party clients and other systems- Leveraging Oauth 2 for authorizing token-based applications- Leveraging OIDC for authentication and Identity, using Bearer tokens- Integrating with a MySQL Database for persistence- Unit-testing using PHP-Unit- REST-API testing using automation tools such as Soap UI- Managing environments and jobs using Jenkins to create environments for developers, QAs and automated testing- Following an Agile-based approach to software development: daily scrum, sprints, retrospectives, reviews and demos

This was a software academy where I learned advanced topics about software development, using Java:- Software design patterns: factory, decorator, MVVM, builder, chain of responsibility, strategy.- Learn about cohesion between fields and methods.- Practical approach to SOLID principles.- Learn when to identify when a class or methods should be split.- Learn how to leverage composition to achieve flexibility.- Develop simple applications and identify key areas where some design patterns would have been a good choice.- Live coding.
