I investigated how the stability of a molecular network, called the galectin-glycoprotein lattice, on the surface of immune cells (i.e., T and B lymphocytes) regulates central tolerance, "behavior" and interactions, and the outcome of autoimmune diseases.- Conducted in vitro assays to analyze how degree of N-glycan branching regulates B cell antigen-presenting cell (APC) function through TLR or CD19-BCR downstream signaling towards NFkB activation, expression of co-stimulatory molecules, cytokine production, and induction of CD4+ T cell differentiation into TH1, TH17, and TREG cells- Generated and maintained transgenic mouse colonies to study the phenotypic outcomes of N-glycosylation enzyme deletion in lymphocytes- Utilized the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model to assess the effects of B cell specific N-glycosylation enzyme deletion in neuroinflammation- Presented experimental results and project progress in lab meetings, department research-in-progress talks, and scientific conferences using poster or PowerPoint format- Co-wrote manuscripts, RO1 NIH grant proposals, and animal use protocols- Supervised and mentored undergraduate students
