As an early career researcher, I am responsible for both teaching and the development of a research portfolio. I am the advisor for 3 PhD students, with $130k funding from Renishaw and Conacyt as the principle investigator, and $386k funding from the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research as co-principle investigator.I teach a programming course to all sophomore engineering students (350+) using MATLAB, and then an optional MATLAB & Simulink course to senior level students. I co-teach a freshmen reverse engineering course to mechanical students.

Thesis entitled "Towards a multi-scale understanding of thermoacoustic fatigue in aerospace materials and structures."My PhD research was funded by the U.S. Air Force. A major part of the research was the development of a lab and apparatus to be able to perform full-field, high temperature measurements on vibrating structures. I extended the validation methodologies from my M.S. thesis and applied them to a vibrating component.
DESIGN ENGINEER, AXLE GROUPI was part of a small group of engineers that was responsible for designing new axles and maintaining current production for various commercial and agricultural equipment. The factory was located in Torreon, Mexico so regular travel and good communication were required to maintain production.● Six Sigma axle brake seal leak reduction green belt project. Received two weeks of training followed by coaching sessions during the project.● Resourced a major axle component from one supplier to another. Worked with an enterprise team to coordinate testing to prevent duplication of efforts.PRODUCT VALIDATION & VERIFICATIONI started working at John Deere as an summer intern while I was a senior at Michigan Tech and then was hired full-time after graduation. I was part of a group to support testing of various powertrain products through custom LabVIEW software.●Developed a new load brake control system for the test lab using LabVIEW. This involved using a compactRIO controller with Real-Time and FPGA modules. The system met the lab's criteria for step changes and steady-state use.●Created a CAN viewer program to help troubleshoot the 9000 series transmission. This dramatically reduced the amount of time to analyze CAN data files.●Performed day to day activities of a lab test engineer.
Ann Arbor, Mi
ENGINEERING DESIGN IV (INTERIOR/INSTRUMENT PANEL)●Created 2-D planning sections and 3-D data for a prototype cup holder insert for the Avalon. Several designs were investigated and prototypes made to assess performance.●Made a change in the geometry of the HVAC console duct. This involved discussing the shape with the supplier and communicating with Japan to coordinate testing of the change.ENGINEERING DESIGN II (BODY SHELL)●Updated drawings to reflect design changes. Worked with other engineers in the group to develop countermeasures and then issue Engineering Design Instructions.●Created 2-D layout drawings from 3-D data using a Toyota designed CAD program.
