As a former bookseller, aspiring writer, and library specialist, I possess a unique skill set geared toward children's and youth services in both public and school library settings. I have extensively studied children's and young adult literature from dual reader/writer perspectives, and I understand the similarities and differences between retail bookstores and libraries from personal experience.I have a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults, as well as a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Louisiana State University, specializing in School Librarianship. Additionally, I spent the last nine years working for Barnes & Noble in various positions, including bookseller, head cashier, children's lead bookseller, and receiving manager. As receiving manager, I gained experience in running a crucial department of a retail store, delegating tasks, and providing excellent customer service.As a transplant to Austin, Texas, I desire to be a role model and influencer for area youth as a librarian, either at the public or school level. I have always cherished books and reading, and I want to share my love of literature in the hope that it inspires others. I currently work as a Library Associate at Austin Public Library.
