About Charles Nicholas Saenz, Ph.D.
I've been teaching in college classrooms for over a decade and during that time I have won recognition for my instructional techniques and content delivery. In the scholarly domain, I write and present talks related to Spain and its empire in the Americas and the western borderlands. My work in this area has included consulting for History Colorado on its "Borderlands of Southern Colorado" initiative.At Adams State University, I've supported the growth of educational opportunities for Latino students at the oldest, federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution in Colorado. In 2021, was elected by fellow faculty to hold the office of Faculty Senate President. A year later, I joined the Office of the President as a special assistant before stepping into my current role in the Office of Academic Affairs.I currently serve as a trustee and former board chair of the University Press of Colorado, which oversees imprints for the University of Alaska Press, Utah State University Press, and University of Wyoming Press. I also sit as a member of both the Colorado Historic Preservation Review Board. I previously served board president of the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area, during which time I worked closely with the National Park Service, and as an appointee of the governor to the Colorado Historical Records Advisory Board
