I am Diana Dawson, founder and owner of Working Career. I am a qualified Career Counsellor and Coaching Psychologist with 20 years’ experience in helping people to be happier and more successful at work.In addition to my academic qualifications, I am an Accredited Master Coach with the Association of Coaching, specialising in Executive Coaching, Career Coaching, Wellbeing and Resilience Coaching and Interview Coaching.Work that fulfils and satisfies us is, I believe, the foundation for a happy life. My personal mission is to help people achieve that goal, in a careers environment which is both challenging and constantly changing.After a degree in psychology at Aberdeen University, I worked in logistics, supply chain and buying. Whilst I met incredible people during this time, I was truly miserable in this field. I was wasting my life by being unhappy at work and counting the days until the weekend. Realising how different people need different things from their careers, and how important is it to have work that fits your needs, I set off on an adventure to find a job I truly loved. After trying several avenues - such as estate agency and interior design, I went into recruitment. Here I could help people in their jobs but there was still something missing, so I retrained in career counselling and coaching and occupational psychology.My company, Working Career, was born and I started providing career counselling and coaching to help others with their career issues - such as hating their jobs and not knowing which way to turn, or being made redundant, or not knowing what their strengths are. I also help people with their career planning and executive coaching. My Career Adventure has been exciting - I have learnt so much, and I am motivated to keep learning as I love the subject. I have the pleasure of working with different individuals and also the variety of working with different organisations such as BBC, BP and Deloitte. I am privileged that people share their lives with me and that I can see really results in people who take control of their lives to make changes that make them happier at work.
