Hollygrove was a 125 year old organization serving abused and neglected children and their families in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Once the childhood home of American icon Marilyn Monroe when she was abandoned and without a place to stay, Hollygrove offered at-risk youth without a home a safe and supportive environment to grow and explore the arts. Judy Nelson served as the CEO of the children's home until June of 2006.

The University of Kansas School of Law provided the staff for Juvenile Court through student Internships. This was one of the most extraordinary learning experiences I've ever had. As a social worker, I had testified in court on behalf of clients multiple times. As a prosecutor, I had to cross-examine my social work colleagues. What an eye opener!

As a legal intern and assistant to the Minority Whip of the Kansas Senate, this was a marvelous opportunity to see and be a part of the inner workings of the legal process.
