After four decades in American media, I am compelled to start something new. Facts are not passé. Truth is not quaint. My co-host, veteran broadcaster Lauri Pearson, brings unique perspective, insight and humor. Together Lauri and I have spent thousands of hours in various broadcast forums, so we know each others’ every zig and zag!One of our first topics will be identifying what “Fake News” is, and what it isn’t. The truth may surprise you. Our intent is to take Radically Rational beyond the podcast format. We want to get the opportunity to also speak to organizations. If you are the program chair for your local Rotary or other community organization, we welcome the chance to address your group. Ditto for motivational speeches at conventions or conferences.

We built a top news team of television journalists and digital news content producers in South Texas. The Texas Associated Press Broadcaster Awards cited our team with three Best Investigative Report awards. We were also cited twice for Best Newscast, as well as for best spot news and best television station website. I am also particularly proud that we were recognized for “Best Continuing Coverage” for our work during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. In my new role, “Radically Rational” will reflect this same level of commitment to truth and community service. We are going to bring facts back into fashion. We are going to make sanity sexy again!

Brownsville, Texas Area

Working in the Rio Grande Valley community, I saw the impact of the “border” firsthand. Brownsville served as the backdrop for some globally impactful stories, long before this region entered the national spotlight. I will use this experience to frame border issues in a factual way.

San Antonio, Texas Area

I taught English, speech and journalism. I also served as a varsity football coach in a variety of roles from 1994-2004 and again from 2009-2010. At various times I served as offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, as well as position coach for receivers and defensive backs. Our teams twice advanced to our division’s state championship game. As an educator, I am proud of how my students have assumed roles of leadership in their communities. I learned at least as much from them as they did from me. I am forever grateful to them.
