Not long ago, a good friend of mine told me “I’ve never had my [metaphorical] a$$ kicked so kindly before”. Not a week later, another friend echoed “you’ve got this way of kindly but firmly pushing me towards my best self”.“Kindly Kick-A$$ Coach” - that’s me to a T (or so I’m told)! But it took a long time for me to discover my edge. What makes me unique. For the first 18 years of my career, process, logic, systems, data, and operations were my brand. It didn’t matter the role → Dental Assistant (yup - I started staring into mouths!), Admin Assistant, Recruitment Coordinator, Team Lead, Manager - HR Operations… I was known for getting ‘stuff’ done. And done well. But then it all changed. Funny how life does that sometimes.Sometimes what we think as our superpowers are actually overshadowing deeper skill sets that just haven’t had a chance to surface and shine. And often it takes something out of our control, in my case losing my ‘perfect for me’ job, to show you that you’re meant to do more. Be more.So welcome to my more.I am my best self, or more accurately, my FAVORITE self when I’m powered by ?question marks? And my years spent in private, public, NFP, and academia HR roles provide a powerful context to the type of questions I think to ask. Questions that make you think differently. Feel differently. Act differently.I’m so addicted to intense curiosity that I even take my questions on the road - or more appropriately - trails, as I coach mountain biking. There are shocking similarities between confidence coaching in leadership and on technical trails.Curious about my kindly kick-a$$ style? Let’s connect - I guarantee you I’ll ask a few ???. I can’t help myself!

Manager, Hr OperationsExplore Edmonton Corporation Sep 2018 - Mar 2021I lead a small but mighty HR Operations team, whose service-focused toolbox is full of technology prowess, process mastery, and compassionate humanity. We thrive on impacting the lives of others. Whether through tactical HR operations, or meaningful connections, we work hard to ensure HR's operational flow is so smooth, that little energy is needed for the 'how' and is instead spent on empowering employees to bring, and be, their best selves at work.In my toolbox as a leader, I use extensive technology and people skill to oversee our HRIS (ADP Workforce Now), all HR system integrations (Office365, IT Service Management software, etc), people metrics & analysis, and all the nuts/bolts/cogs that make-up day to day HR operations. I also use this expertise to round-out our HR Leadership team - adding expert technology and process experience to our HR business strategy and execution.I also create trusting partnerships with employees, people leaders, and senior leadership, building on the foundation of hearing first followed by 100% say:do. These partnerships weave into the areas of Employee Engagement, organizational policy, risk mitigation, payroll, community outreach, business strategy planning, change management and more.I'm most proud of the hard work my HR Operations team tackled, morphing into a centralized structure, known in the organization for providing expert trusted HR support. Removing barriers, fostering growth, and being their biggest cheerleader is my greatest joy as a leader! -
Team Lead, Recruitment & E-RecordsAlberta Health Services Jan 2017 - Sep 2018Edmonton, Canada AreaLeading a large and diverse team (30+) is a special responsibility. One I take pride in, and strive to create a space where my team can be the best versions of themselves each day. Through mentor-coaching, understanding challenges, listening, and empowering, I support our team as they provide high-volume support in all areas of Recruitment Operations and e-Records. From posting 100's of jobs a day, to similar volumes of offer letters and reference checks, the Rec Ops team rocks it for managers and candidates. Equally stellar is the e-Records team's ability to accurately electronically file thousands of employee documents each week.As a leader, in addition to providing daily guidance, I also stick-handle escalated issues, analyze business processes to create efficiencies, champion team engagement, collaborate cross-functionally within AHS's extensive HR Shared Services team, and ensure the technology that underpins our work is operating smoothly and efficiently.A highlight, and significant area of work, is my role in the Recruitment Management System implementation project. Supporting the design, testing, rollout, and continued maintenance of a new system (rolled out in one phase to 100K+ employees!) was a monumental undertaking but so many talented people. While not without it's challenges, I am proud to be part of a project that touches the lives of so many people. -
