Senior Product Manager - Shopping

Mountain View, Ca, Us

As a lead PM for our Shopping on Search efforts I was a founding member of our strategic investment to pour resources into non-paid shopping experiences on google.com. This required collaboration and buy-in across multiple functions (eng, ux, uxr, legal, comms, and more) and multiple timezones. Thanks to this investment, one of the biggest wins for our users that I led was the move to free listings, increasing access to high quality, reputable merchants selling the products they are interesting. This was covered here: https://blog.google/products/shopping/bringing-free-retail-listings-google-search/Starting in 2021 my responsibilities include managing a team of 5+ PMs which have a charter to make Search Shoppable on upper funnel shopping queries (e.g. wireless headphones, floral dresses, etc). In addition we are leading changes to the desktop experience on search for the first time in years.Outside of core product responsibilities I'm an active mentor to junior PMs, serve on hiring committee where I've reviewed 50+ packets over the last year, and am an active part of the Pittsburgh site leadership team.

Product Manager - Travel

As the lead Product Manager for Destinations on Google I was responsible for leading product direction and execution of an experience launched on Google Search in March 2016. Working with a team of 40+ engineers, designers, test engineers, and researchers I helped take us from ideation to functioning product. This included many prototypes, research sessions, and experiments. On top of the execution, I was responsible for executive communication to our SVP and VPs to keep them apprised of the product plans and our progress towards our goals. The experience launched at a handful of worldwide media events in March 2016 to a very positive reception. Received FastCoDesign 2016 Honorable Mention for Websites & Platforms & 2016 Finalist for Graphic Design & Data Visualization - https://www.fastcodesign.com/product/destinations-on-google“Essentially, the platform helps you become your own best travel agent: It makes it easier to find the best prices without spending hours sorting through information from 20 different sites.” - Refinery29 (http://www.refinery29.com/2016/03/105478/destinations-on-google-travel-planning) A few media highlights:NYTimes (also in Sunday print) - http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/13/travel/trip-planner-google-destinations.html?_r=0 Buzzfeed -https://www.buzzfeed.com/nicolenguyen/google-travel-and-chillTravel and Leisure - http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/destinations-on-google-how-to-use?iid=sr-link1 Google blog post - https://googleblog.blogspot.com/2016/03/new-ways-to-plan-your-vacation-while-on.html A brief interview with me was coverved by NPR’s Market Place Tech - https://twitter.com/MarketplaceTech/status/707592046450761730 I was also the PM responsible for the backend that powers Trip Bundles in Inbox (https://goo.gl/bmAjC0). Product Manager - Search Ads

Mountain View, Ca, Us

As a product manager in local ads I focused on building advertising products that allowed advertisers to connect with local customers. While on the team I helped build out our strategy which was build around 3 pillars:1) Help advertisers optimize based on where users are located or interested in going2) Drive traffic to advertisers stores3) Engage with potential customers at specific placesThroughout my ~3 years on the team I was the responsible PM for over 50 launches working with engineers, UX designers, sales leadership, legal, and editorial. The most impactful launch resulted in $1B+ in adopted advertiser spend. Also on my time in local ads, I worked on the now defunct offer extensions product. A great experience ramping up and ultimately making the difficult decision to shutdown the product.

Aug 2011 - May 2014

Lead Technical Specialist

Mountain View, Ca, Us

I worked with the Google's sales team helping with technical issues that affect AdWords and Analytics. I have a deep understanding of online advertising and in particular Google AdWords. Also, my job allowed me to work with Google Engineers and Product Managers to ensure technical issues are escalated effectively and help prioritize product decisions.A major accomplishment in this role was the work I did in exposing patterns and insights from the escalations we saw. This turned into a major project that eventually was spun out into it's own team where the goal is to take incoming consults from the sales team and aggregate them into points of feedback for various product teams within the company. I was behind the initiative to bring @AdWordsHelper to Twitter at the end of 2008.My other side project was the Apps for Education team. I worked with universities to show them the power of Google Apps and walk them through the steps of deploying. This has led me to a few conferences and along with a two speaking engagements.
