Cobi Wright, a Louisiana Service and Leadership Scholar through Louisiana State University's Ogden Honors College and recipient of the Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service, has a passion for culturally relevant psychology and the use of education systems to promote mental healthcare and well-being for youth. Her studies in Psychology and minors in Spanish and Sociology have provided a holistic view of psychology and how social and cultural factors influence the efficacy of mental healthcare programs. Her work experience in education, ranging from substitute teaching to working as a Resident Assistant for Johns Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth, has piqued her interest in the field of social-emotional learning (SEL); she is currently pursuing her Honors Thesis with the Help and Empowerment for children and Adolescents' Mental health school psychology lab at LSU, working to design a culturally-responsive SEL program for African American college students.After graduating, Cobi plans on pursuing a public service career working with youth. She hopes to obtain a Master's degree in Social Work or School Psychology and to eventually obtain her PhD in School Psychology.
