This role involved working with five squads in five different time zones to achieve Agile uplift and build high performing teams. C-level execs and other senior stakeholders were all engaged to ensure they could drive for and advocate change. A bottom-up, embedded approach was taken, working as part of each squad to baseline Agile practice and provide uplift. Per sprint initiatives provided targeted tactical solutions for each squad and demonstrated continuous improvement to leadership.Key achievements include:- Over the engagement, each squad achieved significant uplift via an Agile Scorecard and a measurable increase in velocity- Initiatives included extensive one-on-one coaching, workshops, introduction and facilitation of Agile ceremonies, executive coaching, creation of new online communities and resources.

This role involved managing three cross functional squads responsible for developing APIs at Bunningsin order to provide a platform for the organisation to deliver new capability. This platform wasleveraged for the current Retail and Trade websites, and has since enabled several new integrationsfor the business.As part of the management team, this role also involved senior stakeholder management,project/program level reporting responsibilities, board communications and quarterly planning. Thisrole also involved responsibility for strategic growth within the API group with respect to capabilityand resourcing. This constituted a significant process and cultural transformation towards agile waysof working, and uplift in terms of code quality and velocity.

The Techfugees Melbourne Hackathon brought together developers, designers, entrepreneurs and community members to develop creative tech solutions to help refugee families settle into the Australian community.Former refugees who had already settled in Australia participated in the event to help teams deeply understand problems and challenges faced by new settlers and co-design solutions for them and their communities.Leaders from the tech community mentored teams through the weekend of the 16th of April. At the end of the weekend, teams pitched their solutions to a judges panel of tech and community leaders.The best solutions were awarded prizes and offered on-going support to develop their ideas.

This role involves working in collaboration with the research team on the Australian Research Council (ARC) funded HCI After Dark project.The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) found that the biggest personal safety concern for those living in major cities was the fear of walking alone after dark. This research project seeks to gain an understanding of the needs of people in urban environments in order to develop specific design interventions in the form of mobile applications, novel designs for urban spaces and urban infrastructure (both physical and digital) that create safe environments for everyone in the city after dark.Completed to date:● Conducted workshops on cutting edge research into: urban safety initiatives and research projects; working in multi-disciplinary research environments; and current best design practice that fosters safe urban environments.● Undertaken project planning, management and budgeting.● Contributed to ongoing group research idea development and refinement.● Undertaken web development for project.● Worked in a technology advisory role for device and technology selection for field and user research.

This role had three primary areas of responsibility:● Internal Innovation Program: Design, implement and operate an internal innovation process via a stage gated innovation pipeline. This allowed for the ingestion of new ideas from across the company and key external partners, which were iteratively refined as they progressed through the pipeline. Ideas were released to sponsors on the operational side of the business for development into products.● External Innovation Program: Work with external research partners including startups, Universities and peak national research groups in order to identify projects, products and services that could be integrated into the business or developed externally under a partnership model.● IP Portfolio Management: Manage the existing Telstra patent portfolio and work with inventors in the organisation to progress patents to grant stage in multiple jurisdictions. Patent sales and licensing agreements were successfully negotiated and signed, allowing the business to commercially exploit new and existing IP. Periodic reviews were undertaken to ensure the strategic and commercial approach was in line with the present and future needs of the business and constantly changing commercial and legislative landscape.The following was undertaken:● Produced documents for Telstra board & C-level executive audience.● Negotiated commercial and research contracts.● Worked with internal & external venture capital groups to provide environment scan and due diligence work for products and technologies prior to investment or acquisition.● Managed projects and programs for ideas being developed in the innovation pipeline.● Managed the Telstra Innovation Challenge, a national innovation competition that afforded innovators and entrepreneurs an opportunity to competitively pitch their ideas to senior Telstra management, strategic vendors and VC firms. Winners were given commercial support to support further development and commercialisation.

This role consisted of two main areas of responsibility:● External Research and Development Program: Build relationships and outreach capability between Telstra and external research organisations, including Universities and peak national research groups such as CSIRO and NICTA. As a result a number of key research projects were negotiated and undertaken, notably the Zero Emissions Home project. A contractual and operational framework for commercial research engagement was negotiated and signed. This allowed for external research groups to easily engage with the CTO on projects with commercial potential.● IP Portfolio management: Manage and maintain the existing Telstra IP portfolio. In addition IP licensing agreements were re-negotiated as necessary to ensure the business was able to commercially exploit IP on an ongoing basis.As part of this role the following was undertaken:● Managed the Telstra Innovation Challenge, a national innovation competition that afforded innovators and entrepreneurs an opportunity to competitively pitch their ideas to senior Telstra management, strategic vendors and VC firms. Winners were given commercial support to support further development and commercialisation.● Brokered relationships with venture capital firms to ensure meaningful engagement in and visibility of the Telstra Innovation Challenge.● Negotiated research contracts.● Project and Program management under the negotiated External R&D engagement agreements.

The focus of this role was on the design of future services and technologies that would be used by a "Quadruple Play" telco in a 3-5 year timeline.Specifically, this involved:● Undertaking broad based quantitative and qualitative research into trends in technology.● Understanding use emerging out of these trends and latent/unmet needs analysis.● Development of working physical and software prototypes that allowed us to communicate the experience of future technology and services internal stakeholders.● Assessment of user experience around these technologies and services in order to understand potential for adoption and the commercial implications of this.● Development of an internal system for the capture of market intelligence to allow for identification of broader trends in technology development and potential timing of this due to the technological maturity of all of the requisite parts.

Lived in Bangalore, India while working at Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology.Work at Srishti was in support of an invited campus exhibition of digital and interactive works to be presented across four levels of an exhibition building at the Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria.In this role I acted as a consulting interaction and exhibition designer. I worked closely with students and visiting artists in order to assist in the conceptualisation and realisation of a wide range of interactive works and exhibitions.

As part of my PhD research, I undertook research into a conceptual framework and design for a range of tangible media artefacts. These are hand held and wearable devices that allow for nuanced interaction with sensing environments.My focus was on identifying ways to interact with large data sets in order to allow more intuitive identification and exploration of clusters or patterns of interest in the data. In addition, real-time story telling using large visual asset collections was examined.

User Interface and Interaction Design consultant for a Sony-Ericsson sponsored design studio conducted at the Department of Industrial Design at RMIT.This studio focused on futures for wearable, handheld and desktop communication devices.

Became a member of a multi-disciplinary research team called the Telstra Home Team (THT), based at the Interactive Information Institute, RMIT.The THT undertook ethnographic studies and qualitative research projects in order to identify novel product and service opportunities for Telstra.

Undertook consulting work as part of federal government funded research for the Creator-2-Consumer Project. This project explored futures for the printing and publishing industries and resulted in the production of a number of book chapters for a series monographs that were in turn published by the C-2-C Project.Primarily, this work investigated the future of the book in the context of profound social and technological changes. A number of themes were explored in the book chapters including, electronic texts and reading devices, display technologies, new distribution networks and structural changes required within the publishing industry to meet future challenges.
