About Cobus Barnard

Since the start of my career in 1984 I have been involved in Computers andlater Networks connecting them. I have been in diverse positions and roles,from Mainframe Operator to Senior Software Developer. In the latter part ofthe 1990’s, I was responsible for the entire project of the first LAN installed in amajor Academic Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. I was in an acting positionof IT/Network Manager when I moved on.During the last 25 years I have been focusing on ICT/Telecoms Networks.From Technical Support to Product Line Management and Sales/BusinessDevelopment to Managing Director of a Multi-National Company(BAVATechnologies). In all these roles but specifically as Managing Director andConsultant, I am involved in projects all over Africa, Madagascar andMauritius. From conceptual stages, design and further through to finalimplementation of these diverse and complicated projects. I forge andmaintain relationships with major international suppliers like Cisco, RAD, ECITelecoms, Redline, Cradlepoint, Keymile, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia-Siemens,Motorola, Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE and ABB to name but a few. I am used todealing on a customer level with, State Owned Enterprises, Integrators,Telecom Carriers as well as corporate entities. Used to dealing with these onall levels including Technical, Procurement as well as Senior Management andExecutive levels. While running BAVA Technologies I dealt with all aspects of asmall business from negotiations with staff to daily task management.Personnel matters such as disciplinary actions were also part of my duties.Due to COVID-19 my last employment contract was terminated after 6 months, Ihowever still consult on an ad hoc basis to the last 2 employers.I travelled and is prepared to travel extensively. I am used to dealing withdiverse cultures and customs. I am prepared to re locate, should it berequired.I am a self-driven hard worker, fast learner, diligent, focused, no nonsenseapproach to get the job done. I have excellent negotiation skills.I will be and have been an asset to any organisation that can use my advancedskills set and many years of experience.
