I am Cocovan, a 35 year old French-Iranian multi-disciplinary artist and musician. I started my career as pop singer, and eventually evolved into a different art form: performance art. My work consists mainly of guerrilla performances done in public spaces, especially in places where you would never expect it. In 2017, I founded a participatory art project called “The World Letter”, inviting inviting people of all horizons to come together and write a collective love letter to the world on a giant scroll of paper that gets longer as people write on it. This love letter from the world to the world gathers 25,000 love letters as of today, representing 145 different nations, and spans over 2000 feet (600 meters)… and keeps growing! I’ve taken The World Letter across 6 continents, 45 cities, from the Nepali Himalayas to the Costa Rican jungle, from the Indigenous people of Colombia to refugee camps in Uganda, from the streets of New York to the yurts of Kyrgyzstan, from the schools of France to the hills of Hollywood.
