Hello, my name is Cody Bangcaya Dawson (they/he). I am a student affairs professional currently operating as a full-time graduate student. As of the Fall of 2023, I am pursuing my MSEd. in Higher Education at Penn GSE, so that I can continue my career in student development with the utmost intention and competency. As a Filipino-American and queer professional, I am most interested in identity development as a pillar of student success. I previously served as a professional staff member with Carolina Housing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In my time at Carolina, as both an undergraduate student and professional, developing others has become a critical aspect of my personal and professional fulfillment.I believe that knowing ourselves holistically is vital to understanding the support we need as individuals with intersecting identities. Once we can better advocate for ourselves, we position ourselves to better advocate for others. That is the key to cultivating community, belonging, growth, and success. I aspire to contribute my knowledge and skill-set to the success of students by serving as the coordinator of an LGBTQIA+ center, or otherwise apply myself to an office dedicated to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion within Higher Education.
