I went to Newbridge Comprehensive School where I received GSCE’s (A-B grade) in mathematics and numeracy, double-award science, geography, physical education, art, information technology, English language and literature, Welsh baccalaureate and Welsh language. Once I left school, I started my first job as a Crew Member at McDonald’s where I worked for almost 3 years. After a year of working here, I worked towards to becoming a Crew Trainer where I trained new employees, completed SOC’s (station observation checklist), and obtained more responsibilities such as money handling, food handling, deep-cleaning, training, food safety, and conducting various e-Learning training.In 2019 I started a new job as a support worker for adults with disabilities at a day centre. My job here included personal care, organisation and time skills – setting a routine, coming up with a range of different fun, educational and sensory activities to explore with the service users whilst providing any support they may need in areas but also allowing their independence to thrive. Some activities would include, arts & crafts, cooking, research activities, numeracy, literacy and many more. Working at the day centre allowed me to appreciate the diverse world we live in and be thankful for what I have. It was a very rewarding job as it helped me feel like I was making a positive difference to the service user’s lives. Overall, I felt rewarded in the sense of being able to watch the service users grow, improving their own skills and independence. I started my role at ISCA UK as a Laboratory Assistant in June 2022. My job consists of providing samples of the preservatives we manufacture, to our customers and distributors, conducting research on the development of cosmetic products, formulating our own cosmetic products and adding our preservatives into them in a way of showing how they work. Doing this also helps promote our products. Working at ISCA over the past year has led to a huge growth towards my interest in Chemistry therefore, I have started studying HNC Applied Science (Chemistry) with Swansea Gower College. I thoroughly enjoy working at ISCA UK and I look forward to developing my skills here further.
