Responsible for the development of tooling, molds and dies of new dinnerware and tile products; from the creation of physical models to the organization of those products into the manufacturing process. Includes work in creating roller-forming, die-pressing or slipcasting parts and techniques/strategies. Also involves the development of jigs and guides for production staff.

Maintain inventory of production mold sets. Manage library of Heath original models and working master molds. Troubleshoot problems with production molds including profile editing and case repairs. Update aged models to improve production efficiency and accuracy. Maintain the integrity of heritage Heath designs as well as assist in the creation of tooling for new products. Design, carve and cast parts to aid in manufacturing processes throughout the factory. Work with pottery plaster, gypsum cement, wax, polyurethane rubber and resin.

Conduct quality assesment of finished product, including collecting and analyzing error data. Operate, maintain and conduct minor repairs on production equipment, including electric and gas kilns, a studio RAM press, vacuum clay extruders and clay cutting devices. Design and create production molds and models from plaster, clay and wax. Prep and pour relief tile RAM dies. Mix glaze, maintain glaze inventory and necessary raw materials.

Glaze stoneware tile using a variety of basic techniques. Operate studio electric kilns and fire gas kilns under reduction conditions. Mix glaze.
