I have recently accepted a job as an assistant professor of applied physics at Southwestern University, a liberal arts college of ~1600 undergraduate students just north of Austin. I will be teaching 5 classes per academic year and actively involved in strengthening Southwestern's applied physics program so that current physics majors can transition to engineering graduate schools and jobs upon graduation. I will also be starting a laboratory that focuses on 3D bioprinting and will be hiring undergraduate students in the near future!

Graduate Research FellowThe University Of Texas At Austin Aug 2015 - PresentAustin, Texas AreaI have focused on elucidating cell-matrix interactions within extracellular-matrix mimicking 3D matrices, or hydrogels. In the process, I have developed an in vitro platform to quantify the vasculogenic potential of iPSC-derived endothelial progenitors and put together a computational pipeline to measure vessel size and connectivity in three dimensions. My work has resulted in 6 publications (3 first-author) and 10 presentations (3 platform). Two publications are currently in progress. -

This year the team will be working on developing high entropy alloys, families of metallic alloys that show great promise for vastly superior properties compared to those of traditional alloys. My main role focuses on the high entropy alloy fabrication, development, and characterization, as many of these previous experiments have focused on a tradeoff between mixing enthalpy and mixing entropy- this is proving too simplistic, and thus needs a set of modified thermodynamic principles. Most the experimental work was performed by my peers and me at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
