I’m an energy efficiency industry professional, focused on identifying energy-saving opportunities for electrical utilities, equipment manufacturers, and end users. My business education and industry experience are complemented by my strong blue-collar work ethic and experience, making me uniquely effective in my work. I served in the US Navy, as a Firecontrolman, for six years and completed two Pacific and Persian Gulf deployments. I learned advanced technical skills in electronics, automation, and electromechanics. I was highly respected by my peers and my chain of command.After my enlistment, I started school at UT Dallas and work as a Field Service Technologist for S&C Electric Company. I worked on smart electrical distribution equipment, including automated SF6 switchgear and automated overhead pulse reclosers. I trained customers in proper and safe use of S&C equipment. The three years spent with S&C gave me great industry experience with electrical utilities and end users around the country. Securing a broad range of technical experience before earning my degree was a strategy inspired by a Chief Warrant Officer 5, whom I greatly respect and looked up to while I served. For anyone unaware, Warrant Officers are prior enlisted who achieve their degree during their enlistment and become commissioned officers, gaining knowledge of both sides of military operations. They can maintain a complex system but have the education and management ability of officers. My career path emulates a civilian version of a Warrant Officer’s. I have proven my technical prowess in systems from low-voltage electronics, to 35kV switchgear, to automated systems. As I graduate with my business degree from UT Dallas, I can focus on the next phase of my career. Now, I work for Affinity Engineering, specializing in energy-saving strategies. Affinity approaches its tasks with a smart, lean perspective. We understand our clients’ traditional methods and work to solve problems with our intuitive, flexible techniques. I'm currently developing a new approach to an energy efficiency program for a utility in the northeast, a nationwide pump-retrofit program for a manufacturer, and working with a mid-size retailer to improve their efficiency and maximize the available EE incentives for their 20+ locations. I have set a high standard for my work and my personal life, which drives me to continually better myself. Personally, I love to exercise, play guitar, ride motorcycles, and do DIY house projects.
