I have been a Structural Analysis Engineer at The Boeing Company since 2010. I use classical methods, finite element analysis, and structural testing to substantiate interior monuments for the 737. I am the Lead of my group and an FAA delegate for structural testing. I studied Mechanics and Materials to earn my Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I am also licensed in Washington State as a Professional Engineer. I passed the exam for Machine Design and Materials.< Stress Analysis >I use classical methods, finite element analysis, and structural testing to substantiate interior monuments for the 737. The structures are composed primarily of composite honeycomb panels assembled with brackets and bonded joints. They attach to the aircraft with tie rods, hard points, and seat track fittings. I review and approve repairs for damage in the factory and in service. To further develop my skills, I studied Mechanics and Materials to earn my Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.< Structural Testing >New configurations and requirements can drive structural testing. Each unit must meet FAA regulations for inertial and decompression events. There are also requirements for abuse loading and 16G seat attachments. Test articles are built, conformed, and tested for certification. I was selected and trained as an FAA delegate for structural test witnessing.< Leadership >I am the Lead of the 737 Lavatory Stress Team. For new projects, I act as a subject matter expert for structural requirements. I also coordinate with our suppliers and management. I am a voting member on the Interiors Technical Council.< Product Development >I have led the structural substantiation of several new products. All test and substantiation data must be completed for FAA certification before the airplane can be delivered. We work closely with the design group to approve design changes. In addition to my work at Boeing, I passed the Machine Design and Materials exam to earn my Professional Engineer license.< 3D Modeling >At The Boeing Company, we use Patran for finite element analysis. I use the models for deformation, load path, and interface load analysis. During my undergraduate studies, I used Solidworks extensively for course and project work. I turned several models into drawings and imported some of them into Mastercam to generate CNC code. I also chose an Advanced Computer Aided Design course for CATIA V4/V5.
