My name is (Richard) Cody LaRue and I am currently a Production Winemaker for E&J Gallo Winery. I recently spent 17 months facilitating continuous improvement projects while earning my Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green, and Black Belt certifications. I’m excited to put my new knowledge to work and get back into the production that I love. I am from Davis, CA, and graduated from Davis High School in June, 2009. In September, 2009, I began attending the University of California, Davis, with hopes of getting my Bachelors of Science degree. Having been interested with the grape and wine industry, I soon decided to pursue the degree in Viticulture and Enology. While attending UCD, I worked for Dr. Doug Gubler in the UCD Plant Pathology Department, as an undergraduate Lab Assistant. I was able to work with many different researchers on a variety of projects involving not only grapes, but also fruit trees, fruiting vines, and other row crops. I worked first hand with many common vine fungal pathogens, including Powdery Mildew, Eutypa, etc. During the summer of 2012, I was given the opportunity to Intern with a Vineyard Manager at Price Family Vineyards, in Sonoma, CA. This was a great opportunity to not only apply the knowlege I was gathering at school, but also to learn new things that school could not teach.In June, 2013, I graduated from UCD with a BS in Viticulture and Enology. One week after graduation, I began working at Kuleto Estate, in Napa, CA, as a Tasting Room Associate. I began my career at E&J Gallo Winery in August of 2013. After interning at Louis M. Martini for the 2013 harvest, I started working at William Hill Estate in March 2014 as the Lab Technician. Following two harvests at William Hill Estate running the analytical lab, I moved back to Louis M. Martini as the Enologist in March 2016. After 3 years of growth and continued responsibility, I moved back to William Hill Estate as the Assistant Winemaker in November 2018.
