Getting back into engineering I joined a new team called Move to the Web. This team's mission is to make the Tableau web experience become a 1st class experience, and have users no longer be dependent on the desktop application for simple changes to the visualization all the way to connecting to new data sources and creating new visualizations from scratch.- Worked with customers to find the top blocking issues preventing users from using just the web.- Worked to prioritize and develop features that the web lacked, such as Number Formatting, Parameter creation, Filter creation, Horizontally scrolling tables- Worked to add parity between desktop and web in menus, toolbars, and interactions, both visually and functionally- Assisted other team to teach how to build features that can be used in both native desktop applications and on the web.- Assisted other teams in building web features when they had little or no experience- Worked to improve performance- Worked to allow users to connect to their existing existing or web data sources, as well as modify the relationships in the data sources- Evangelized an on call system for our dev org- Gave architecture talks on our browser viz code

I moved to one of the teams responsible for User Experience Improvements (UXI) at Tableau. First as an engineer, than as a manager. The team focuses on making workflow and visual analysis faster, more intuitive, and beautiful. The team focuses specifically on the browsers, making Tableau delightful to use in a browser.This can be something small like making tooltips smoothly follow the mouse, or large like allowing you to author and edit more complicated visualizations in your browser. When it comes to the look and feel of Tableau in the web, UXI is the team.

I started as a senior engineer on the Rendering team. This team was in charge of every pixel that appeared on the visualizations. Our framework had to ensure that visualizations looked and felt the same on every platform, while having each platform have its own specific rendering code (GL, QT, HTML5). - While on this team I worked on improvements to allow more visualization types appear in the web, ensuring support for all browsers, including mobile. - I worked on making visualizations appear more responsive to the user, so the user knows they can interact and fell more immersed in the visualizations. - I became ScrumMaster and help my team adopt agile as it was spreading throughout the company.

Fire Phone Project: - Started as an early engineer for what would become the Fire Phone. - Worked on prototypes for different solutions for creating a 3d experience on a phone platform - Modified the Android Platform to work with our custom hardware to create unique UXFire TV Project - Moved to be the first engineer on the Fire TV project - Worked on building proof of concept UX for early hardware - Heavily involved in recruiting and building up the team - Worked on internal framework for building UI - Focused on building the home and navigation experienceI became an Amazon Bar Raiser for recruiting while in digital projects.

Started on a small team tasked with building Kindle applications on mobile devices.We started with Kindle for iPhone, and I worked on building the initial release, as well as several subsequent updates. As the team grew, I worked on building the initial release for Kindle for BlackBerry, iPad, and Android. I then continued my work on the Kindle for Android team for several releases.I was ScrumMaster for a large amount of my time on the various projects.
