About Cody Shipley
My professional journey has come through experience and education. My experience started in direct to consumer and business to business sales. For several years I worked for a small software startup as the primary sales leader doing business to business contracts. I was able to work with high level leadership in developing processes, determining new features, hiring new members of the team, and collaborate on ways to improve the overall user experience. This experience has taught me the important principles of teamwork, collaboration, delegation, and being committed and passionate about the mission of the business. The more you know the more you realize you don’t know. I have always been business minded and this phrase has allowed me to remain teachable while also remaining hungry for knowledge. While working in this professional capacity, I was fortunate enough to simultaneously receive a bachelors degree in behavioral science and ultimately a masters degree in social work. Impacting the lives of people is one of my deepest values that gives my professional life meaning and purpose. I have been able to use the skills in sales to improve my ability to communicate, understand others problems, and determine viable solutions that will impact their lives for the better. Social work has taken that value to a deeper level as I work to help people struggling with a variety of mental health issues. I am EMDR trained, level 1 and 2 certifications in Gottman therapy and have been trained in domestic violence treatment, substance abuse treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. Mindfulness, meditation, and breath work are core principles that have personally increased my own self-awareness and improved my ability to focus on the things that matter in life. I use all of these skills acquired through my program, studies, and trainings to empower and enable my clients to make changes in their lives. I have future ambitions to eventually become fully certified in EMDR and open my own practice with a vision and mission of my own. I am excited to bring my love for business and sales into alignment with my love for helping people through mental health services. I also intend to become a writer as another way to help connect to people on a larger scale. My purpose is to help people find identity and purpose in life that will ultimately lead them to deeper fulfillment and give both good and bad times meaning.
