My first job was working for my dad spreading mulch. I worked during summers in relentless heat. Although this was not an office job, it taught me a few lessons. One: Hard Work Is Hard. You may not think there is much to spreading mulch, but to carry wheel barrels full repeatedly for three months, it talks a tole on your back! Hard work has made me love the process and has given me a sense of fulfillment. Mulching has also taught me this: Slow Is Steady And Steady Is Fast. To make each site that I worked at look really nice, I had to take my time. I could not simply dump the mulch at one spot and leave for another, the site would end up looking sloppy. I took my time with each spot, making sure the mulch laid flat and made the surrounding plants stand out beautifully.I'll leave you with another lesson I learned and it is simply this: Patience. I worked with my twin brother at each site and sometimes we simply did not agree with how we should execute what we needed to do. I understood that we both had the same goal and even though the way he wanted to achieve that goal was different from mine, I was open and reasonably willing to follow what he wanted to do. I am currently a senior at Central College who will soon have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management with a Marketing emphasis.
