Hello! My name is Cody Van!I am a student at the University of Texas at Dallas seeking the opportunity for a career in the Actuarial Science Industry. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a passion in mathematics, coding, and statistics. My coursework and hands-on projects have allowed me to develop a fascination with the Health Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, Life Insurance, and Property and Casualty Insurance side of the industry where I would like to continue to learn more, contribute, and grow.I am always looking for opportunities to improve on my skills in C++, Java, and SQL, as well as Excel and Microsoft office. I am excited to say that I am sitting for both SOA exams: Financial Math and Probability, and hope to say by the end of January that both exams will be passed! In addition to my studies, I am actively involved in the Actuarial Student Assosiation and the Swim Club where I am a club manager. These experiences have helped me develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.Currently, I am serving as a reservist in the United States Marine Corp where I operate and maintain military-grade heavy equipment, including forklifts and dozers, ensuring optimal performance in both field and garrison environments. I also work with other Marines in harsh environments where aspects of leadership and teamwork are required to complete the missions at hand. I also currently work as a Bartender at BJ's Brewhouse, where I am known for my sociability and customer service. I brought in over 100 five-star reviews and great experiences to guests and coworkers alike. My work relies on me being very dependable and hardworking, and I take pride in being an upbeat employee who will always come to work smiling even after a long day.Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with classmates and helping out school programs where I can, which helps me stay connected with peers and create new relationships!
