Developed the school into a Reward Status institution - top 5% in Tennessee - within one year.Operationalized consistent and collective procedures for every part of the school day/year and trained staff in their implementation - ranging from large conferences and orientations to small details of classroom structure and student greetings.Directly managed 10 people and indirectly managed 35 staff members through a dispersed leadership hierarchy. Mobilized 12 teachers in a in-school tutoring program which targeted deficits across all subject areas for the bottom 25% (94) of our students. This lowest quartile of students grew 3.5 grade levels in math, 2.2 grade levels in reading, and every teacher still had 140 minutes (two blocks) of prep time in their daily schedule.Managed a departmental growth of 432% over three years.Expanded the wrap-around social services for students by developing multi-year contracts with 8 new institutions. This provided Intrepid with mentorship programs, mental health counseling, therapy services, adult/family education, tutoring, and health screening.Implemented conferences using Total Quality Management principles which reported over 85% attendance and a satisfaction rate of 96% and an efficiency rate of 92%.Coordinated data management across 12 online platforms for 37 adults, and 376 students and parents.Trained 40 staff and parents to oversee secure state testing for 376 students, administering 1,800 tests. Implemented a consistent, statistical testing cycle for on-going exams.Led training sessions for staff around: school operations, state and federal disabilities, educational targets, Response-to-Intervention Systems, data driven classroom education, blended learning, differentiated instruction, and lesson plan development.Wrote the Response-to-Intervention Manual, the Support's Manual, and parts of the Family and Staff HandbooksTaught 5th and 6th grade mathematics, remedial reading and math.

I created the mathematics strands of the Department's Leadership 202 course which was targeted towards school administrators. The aim of the course was to disseminate how they could train others in their district to work with teachers and grow student’s scores under the auspices of the new national Common Core State Standards. As a consultant for the Dept. of Education, I worked with staff to train 75 coaches on a course I co-created. These coaches then went to disseminate the course to over 3,000 participants state-wide.

My position aims to develop systems that target struggling students and helping create interventions that meet their needs while they travel down the road of performing on grade-level. I also maintain legal compliance of federal educational plans for students with disabilities and work with teacher in helping to deepen their pedagogy in working with struggling scholars. I served as a team member at the Holly Springs Junior High School. I humbly worked with veteran and novice teachers on a growth plan for the Holly Springs Junior High School to increase academic readiness and performance with the goal (succeed within one year) of raising our ranking from low-performing to successful, moving two levels. I revitalized the 7th grade math curriculum and coordinated tutoring across grade levels and skill sets by creatively leveraging non-academic time as well as afterschool and weekend hours. I was promoted to the dual role of general education teacher and special education teacher. I maintained a full caseload of SPED students while teaching three math blocks. After my first year, I was appointed to the school’s leadership team, helping my colleagues with pedagogy and culture while providing assistance to the new teachers. I underwent and provided development of curriculum standards and breakdown, providing assistance in backwards planning and interaction with students. I served as the co-President of the Parent Teacher Association, was on the Homecoming Committee, the Student Council advisor, the Honor’s Committee and Honors Club co-advisor, the French Club advisor and assisted the Speech and Debate Team. I was nominated by my peers for the Sue Lehmann Excellence-in-Teaching award.

I charted the expansion of Teach for America’s largest incoming corps member growth to a new part of the state, forging a connection with a new school district as one of four new TFA teachers to be placed in the Holly Springs School district. I participated in weekly and then monthly professional development through the University of Houston and Delta State University in pedagogy and management. Overtime, I provided relocation assistance as a mentor to incoming teachers in the region by providing sessions aimed at cultural understanding and content growth. I served as the coach of the special education team and provided sessions on a variety of topics to that subset of corps members. On behalf of Teach for America, I was a one of only two first year corps members who served as a Development Fellow. This group of teachers assisted the region in securing funding through interactions with TFA’s large donor database. Screened by state personnel from the Department of Education, I was recommended for National Board Certification training and given a four out of five rating for teacher effectiveness after three months.

The health care landscape turned dramatically in the spring and summer of 2010 as the landmark Health Care Act was passed. This Act changed the way that many companies had to approach health care coverage in America, including Amerigroup – a health care insurance agency working in many states providing Medicare and Medicaid coverage. I was hired to assist in the creation of a database the company could use to support their lobbying efforts. I also aided the company through their transition to their new Database Retention technology switch.

In promoting the brand of Valparaiso through the lens of student life and actual experience, I welcomed perspective students to the campus and gave them a tour, answering questions and defining life at the university. I was the Tour Manager for the largest number of guides in the history of the university at the time. I organized the daily tours as well as the special group and day-long visits. I developed my peers by providing growth around interacting with families and co-supervised the communication with prospective students. I also created a new script and route for visitations highlighting the numerous features and providing flexibility for my guides as they learned more about the prospective students.

NDI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental organization that has supported democratic institutions and practices in every region of the world for more than three decades. Since its founding in 1983, NDI and its local partners have worked to establish and strengthen political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. I worked along side the Central and West African Division working closely with the Liberia and Sierra Leone Teams. I mapped upcoming elections and co-authored and edited white papers on current democratic institutions in countries. I also supported the team who invited the President of Liberia and a woman's group from Sierra Leone, 50/50, to come and accept an award for the work they are doing in promoting honest, political participation of all citizens.

Helping to develop the nascent language program into a permanent fixture for Valparaiso Community Schools, the goal I helped to perpetuate was to expose young students (elementary aged scholars) to a cross-cultural, afterschool language program. I created lesson objectives and hands-on learning experiences to develop basic French skills to fourth and fifth grade students. I was a part of a two-person team in creating the charter French program at this school and continued to run it for two years.
